Massage is
an ancient technique.
Caveman Ug asked his friend Arg to rub his
shoulder after a heavy Mammoth hunting session.
Massage has moved on a bit since then, but the
principles are the same. Pressure is applied to the muscles using methods of
kneading, stroking, friction, tapping and vibration. This provides relief from
stiffness, numbness, pain and congestion in the muscles. Shortening the
recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric
acid and other metabolic waste increases oxygen flow in the blood resulting in
a release of toxins from the muscles
There are multiple benefits:-
- Stimulation
of the circulation without increasing heart load,
- Increase
in muscle tone.
- Shortening
of recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic
acid, uric acid and other metabolic waste.
- Relaxation
Massage can be used to treat a variety of
problems ( not just mammoth hunting injuries). From the obvious; back pain,
muscles strains, sports injuries. To the not so obvious: Insomnia, headaches, stress
related conditions. Or you could just choose to relax.
Traditional healthcare systems throughout the
world recognise that massage can play an important role in treating illness or
chronic ailments and is recognised in promoting a higher sense of general well
being.
